Sunshine Dance Center was approached by Daydreamer Productions at the end of July, 2023. Internationally-recognized country music artist Jessica Lynn and her production team were seeking local talent for a Holiday Concert Tour. It began by selling out at the Paramount Theater in New York… and has now turned into a roadshow helping to create one of the biggest fundraisers for the Toys for Tots organization. We were very excited to be a part of what sounded like an amazing opportunity and got to work! We got a team of dancers ranging from ages 6-24 years old and began our rehearsals. We kept in touch with the production team and sent videos along the way. This entire process was done virtually… only having a chance to practice on stage with Jessica one time, the day of the show.
On November 25th, 36 dancers and their families met us at the Warner Theater, in Torrington, and our amazing experience began! We met Jessica, rehearsed our dances, got settled in our dressing room and began to prepare for the big show! There was so much make up, hair spray, lots of red, green and gold… and of course the 36 red and white striped presents for our first number! We got escorted to backstage and listened as the show opened. The lights shone bright! The song began to play and 36 Sunshine Dancers were accompanying Jessica Lynn to “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”! The audience erupted with appreciation as it ended and we waited our turn to end the show with our second number: Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town! After an amazing job, the dancers were greeted by their families with flowers, hugs and even some screams of excitement because of how well they performed! We created some incredible moments together and instilled a core memory for sure that day. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year!
